Cactus Day Camp Staff 2012

This is Catherine’s 1st year at CDC. Catherine graduated from Mary
Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. She went on to earn her J.D.
from ASU. She grew up attending, volunteering, and working at her
mother’s Montessori school and ultimately decided her passion is early
childhood education. She has taught for years in many Montessori
classrooms. She now teaches Kindergarten-First Grade at the Fountain
Hills Charter School. Catherine will be a counselor for the Geckos this
summer, in addition to driving the Scottsdale pick-up and drop-off CDC
van.
J.T., age 19, comes to AZ from Washington State just this year and will
be the counselor of the Coyotes. J.T. is entering his sophomore year at
Arizona Christian University where he is currently in the general
studies program. He is pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a
professional baseball player. He has enjoyed being a referee for a youth
flag football team. He looks forward to providing a safe and fun filled
camp experience at the CDC this summer. His nickname is Jam & Toast. He
is outgoing and likes to have fun.
This is Kyle’s first year at CDC. Born in Arizona, he is studying
athletic training at Colorado State University at Pueblo, CO. After
graduation his goal is to manage collegiate or professional teams as
their athletic trainer and would love to play professional soccer. Kyle
coached youth soccer for three years and volunteered assisting children
with disabilities with their daily living skills. Kyle will be a
counselor for the Roadrunners.

This is Crystal’s 2nd summer at CDC. She is 22 and was born in Ravenna,
Ohio. Crystal came to AZ in 2010. She attends Scottsdale Community
College and is pursuing a career as a 4th grade teacher. Currently
Crystal is a teacher’s asst. for grades 4-8 at F.H. Charter School.
Crystal is the counselor for the Ladybugs.
This is Laura’s second summer at CDC. She is a Fountain Hills native and
is going into her junior year at Grand Canyon University this fall. Her
major is Elementary Education and English. Laura loves to volunteer,
tutor and mentor children and to be a positive, supportive role model
teaching them that they are capable and able to accomplish anything.
Laura will be the Panther counselor.
Rachel is back working at CDC for her 2nd summer. She was born in AZ,
and is a junior at NAU where she is studying earth science/secondary
education. Rachel’s career goal is to teach middle school and high
school sciences. Rachel has several years of experience working with
children in a variety of settings and roles such as: tennis coach,
tutor, childcare worker, volunteer and camp leader. Rachel will be the
counselor to the Butterflies.
